Environmental Project

  • This project covered 930 beneficiaries (Santander 222 and Guajira 256 in 7 communities plus the participation of 2 large schools for a total of 738 children and young people).

  • Bottles of Love Campaign, (collection of bottles full of plastic) weighed 1,349.4 kg. in Santander. In La Guajira the weight was 2730 kg.

  • Campaign Plant a Tree, Take Care of Our Own (in each community it is expected that the family will plant a seedling and the child or young person will transplant it. The facilitators follow the cultivations all year round.  298 trees were planted (Santander 198, Guajira 100).

  • Workshops held in environmental education - 27 meetings.

 

IMPACT

Colombia is characterized by its rich environmental diversity, but in regions such as La Guajira and Santander where our program has influence, the terrain has notoriously arid and dry areas. However, thanks to the participation of the communities, a gradual change in environmental awareness has taken place. Families, as they become involved, increasingly recognize the vital importance of preserving the environment, thus marking a significant step towards sustainability in these areas. The aspiration is to continue to spread this awareness to more children and young people, thus perpetuating these valuable environmental initiatives.
