The Canadian Association for
Participatory Development supports community development
initiatives with people
disadvantaged by circumstance or disability. Our activities are
limited to Colombia at this time. We support participatory community development
initiatives with people disadvantaged by circumstance or
disability.
Our goal is to promote collective actions that enhance
development of knowledge, leadership, and volunteerism and that
lead to enhanced quality of life and dignity and to provide
impoverished people and people with disabilities with the
training and assistance needed to improve the quality of their
life.
CAPD supports Colombian disability
organizations to provide programs that promote integration
of people with disability such as therapy, recreation,
education assistance, nutrition and small business
initiatives. Our Colombian agents for this program are

The Green Light Education Assistance Program
helps children from low income families to stay in school by
providing lunches and uniforms. In 2011, the program helped
280 children access a school lunch program and 98 children
receive uniforms, shoes and a knapsack with school supplies.

The Safe Water for Families Program provides
BioSand filter work-shops to communities. In 2011 a joint
project was initiated with Rotary Club to provide filters
and hygiene training to 600 families over a two year period
in the Monteria area.
